Operation Restore Hope provides surgery to less fortunate children with cleft lip and palate and other birth defects and deformities in the communities we serve. Without the donation of services, these children would remain untreated and permanently disadvantaged. Children with cleft lip and palate who do not have access to surgery will have difficulty with nutritional uptake, formation of speech and normal socialization. They are often hidden or ostracized and have limited prospects for schooling and eventual integration in the workforce or community. The cost not only to the child’s quality of life but also the cost to the family and the community is far greater than the cost for surgical intervention. With charitable surgical intervention especially at an early age, these children can have a chance to live normal lives and integrate into their communities.
